Today I was looking through a photo album of a friend of mine. It was of her travels through England. I couldn't help but smile as I flipped through picture by picture. Admiring that she went to the birthplace of William Shakespeare, several churches, and a market square (and more!) I was so jealous, I would LOVE to travel abroad.

Don't get me wrong, I am so happy I went to Alaska. What an amazing experience. I know eventually I'll go to Ireland and England, no doubt we'll also go to Germany and Australia. There's other places I would love to go, but money doesn't grow on trees, and money is in short supply in our house right now.

I think that's all I wanted to say.

Day 3-No Soda

And I've gained 5 lbs

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

So today my new social security card came in the mail. It was nice to see my name all official like on it. And might I add I found it alot easier to sign my last name as Jarvis than Widboom. The "d" "b" back to back thing makes it goofy. On Thursday I got my new driver's license, and wouldn't you know I actually got a cute picture! I also reiterated to them that I am an Organ Donor.

As I sit hear listening to the background ambience of a fan, Jackson and Tiger playing, and Derek watching "The IT Crowd" I feel completely relaxed, and happy. I can't even explain it. It's weird.

Last night I ate a piece of broccoli. It was horrible to begin with, but towards the end it got more and more vegetable-ly and I have trouble swallowing it. I did gag, but still managed to get it down. Go me! For dinner I had Chicken and Jolly Green Giant canned green beans. MMMM.

I haven't had soda in a day and a half. Let the calender tally begin. Any bets?

I'm really looking forward to doing a hike now. I wish I just would have got on it earlier, because now its much harder for people to come with since school started and all. Oh well, I think it would be ok if I went alone with Jackson at one of the trails nearby, to get warmed up for it. So long as I have plenty of water, and his booties, I should be just fine. We'll see.

Today I officially became a Jarvis. After 2 trips to different social security offices, and waiting in a long line its all done. Now I just need to wait the 2 weeks for my new card to come. And I can get my new drivers license in 2 days. It's amazing all the things that need to be changed.

Jackson is cuter than ever. He has discovered the bathroom mirror. So every once in a while you'll see him standing on his hind legs with his front paws on the counter, just staring at himself. The unusual relationship between him and Tiger continues.

I got a raise. Only a couple cents, but my reviews were good, so that made me feel pretty special. Still hoping to get a better job though.

Bummer

Well, I didn't get the job at the veterinary hospital. I was a little disappointed in myself, because I told myself I wouldn't get my hopes up. I know I failed when I almost started crying when they ever so bluntly told me the position had been filled.

But it's ok, I reactivated my account with the employment agency. So if all goes well perhaps they'll find me a good job.

I need to start looking at classes for school. It starts in a couple days. To be honest we can't afford it, but I'm only looking to take one class, so we'll see how that goes.

Wow, I'm such a flake. I've been pretty busy.

Derek was given the opportunity recently to go to Israel for work. I told him to accept it, and he did. So as of right now we are just waiting on all of the details. More than likely though he will be leaving in December for a year. But that's ok, absence only makes the heart grow fonder, right?

I recently began my search for a little sister for Jackson. A little 8 week old puppy that looks about the same. I've found a couple prospective ones, but it's not likely that it's the right time. I'm crossing my fingers that I get this veterinary job I applied for. But the market is tight right now.

In my search for a perfect puppy, I came across a rescue in Tonopah, AZ. And the lady that owns it has been really nice, and has been emailing me consistently and maintaining a dialogue. In our conversation we have talked about my new company I opened, and she has asked me to come down and bring her some of my cars so that she can refer me as a trainer and such to people that adopt from her rescue.

It was just really refreshing, because I didn't even offer my cards, she actually asked for them. Treating me like I am a true professional and reputable. And with a rescue backing me, that's perfect! I already have 2 trainers in the area that hand out my cards to people that needs assistance, and 1 veterinary office. I think in this line of work it's all going to come down to the connections and the people you know.

Derek and I have been searching for a new car for me. My current vehicle is a piece of crap, and so we've been looking at Pontiac Vibe or Toyota Matrix. They are the perfect little car for my business, they have plenty of room for at least one kennel. But also alot of seat space for a couple of dogs to be harnessed into. I'm pretty excited about it. Now just to sell my convertible.

I got Jackson all of his hiking gear, it mainly includes Muttluks All Terrain booties, a dog hiking backpack, ice packs, first aid kit, and a canteen. Now I just need to get my gear, and we'll be all set to start doing hikes together. And considering he is now full grown and 3 lbs overweight (and I'm quite a bit overweight myself) the sooner the better. I can't wait till it starts cooling off.

Well I think that's enough for now. I'll post again when I find it prudent.

Forever

So, I know that it's been forever since I posted. In fact I think it's been longer than a month. But what can I say, I've been busy. What with getting married, going to Alaska, and working and all.

The wedding was fantastic. A couple hiccups here and there, but that is to be expected with any event. It can't go perfectly. Texas Roadhouse catered the reception, and it was absolutely fantastic. The ceremony was held outside, and it was 113 degrees, until the ceremony began. As soon as the ceremony began the wind picked up, and it dropped about 20 degrees. So it was tolerable. :-)

The reception was pretty good. We had our first dance to Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You" from the movie "Wedding Singer". It was very romantic, and people either laughed, or "Awwwed". The cake was delicious, but we only got that cake cutting bite. Luckily Derek's mom saved the top tier, so we will finally get a piece of that cake. We are going to eat it on our 1 month anniversary in a couple days.

We went to Alaska for our honeymoon, on a Carnival cruise. It was the best week of my life. In fact, I'm already looking for tickets for our 1 year anniversary. We saw sled dogs that compete in the Iditarod, and played with the Alaskan Husky puppies, oh man, I was all smiles the rest of the trip. We were selected to participate in the Newlywed, Not So Newlywed game show on the ship. It was alot of fun, and the rest of the cruise all the people were like, "Hey, you're the newlyweds!!"

All in all it was an incredible experience, and I wouldn't have done anything different. In the end I ended up married to the love of my life on our 5 year anniversary. And had the most amazing week of my life. Life is good.
